Last week, the Russian car market showed another decline in sales. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on August 17.

The volume of sales of new passenger cars amounted to 25.3 thousand units, which is 5.7% less than a week earlier and 1.2% lower than the result of the same week last year.

The decrease was more significant in the commercial vehicle segment. LCV sales decreased by 27.3% to 1,087 units, while truck sales decreased by 20.5% to 786 units.

"Last week, the comtrans market fell by almost 30% compared to the same week last year. This is the anti—record of the season," said Tselikov.

According to the expert, if the current trend continues, the sales results in August will be lower than in June-July.

As reported on August 13, the average age of the passenger car fleet in Russia as of July was 15.4 years. The "youngest" cars are registered in Moscow: in the capital, the average age of a passenger car is 11.5 years. In St. Petersburg, this figure is slightly higher — 12.4 years.
