On the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as on any other day, it is forbidden to commit evil. The dean of the Baltai district of the Saratov Diocese, Priest Oleg Zhilyakov, recalled this in an interview with Izvestia.

"On any day, including on the Assumption, it is forbidden to engage in evil, some kind of debauchery. Everything that cannot be done on other days cannot be done on the Assumption. There are no specific prohibitions. This day is a day of celebration, that's why we celebrate," he said.

The priest paid special attention to the widespread misconception that it is forbidden to work on major church holidays. He called this idea unreliable and warned against replacing the holiday with idleness.

"You can come to the temple and then go to work. It is wrong when a church holiday becomes a reason for laziness. One cannot assume that one cannot work on church holidays — this is unreliable information. You can work, but it's important to keep a balance if you go to church," the priest emphasized.
