A resident of the Ukrainian city of Ternopil with a high degree of myopia was found fit to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on August 16 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"In Ternopil, military doctors recognized a local resident with a vision of minus 14 as fit for military service," the law enforcement agencies said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The agency's interlocutor noted that the established stage of myopia is high and is considered pathological. In addition, with such a degree of visual impairment, a person may experience limitations when performing significant physical exertion.

On August 12, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets, announced that a man with a diagnosis of schizophrenia had been mobilized in Ukraine. According to the Ombudsman, territorial recruitment centers (the equivalent of military enlistment offices in Ukraine) carry out their own plans, ignoring the consequences.
