The Ostankino court of Moscow, at the request of the prosecutor, banned access to the resources where tobacco products were sold — cigarettes and cigarillos. This was confirmed on August 16 by the case materials reviewed by Izvestia.

"The site is an aggregator of offers for the sale of tobacco and nicotine-containing products and contains on the tabs an assortment of goods, their terms of sale, prices and contact details of the seller. This resource contains information that contributes to the commission of administrative offenses and negatively affects citizens, including minors," the resolution says.

It clarifies that advertising and promotion of the sale of tobacco products are an administrative offense, for which a fine is provided. However, the law prohibits the remote sale of tobacco products, as well as their ordering at home.

Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said on August 9 that the regions should actively use the right to ban the retail sale of vapes and liquids to them, as well as other electronic nicotine delivery systems. The Chairman of the State Duma noted that the relevant laws have so far been adopted only by the Perm Territory, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza and Saratov regions, as well as the Republic of North Ossetia —Alania. He called on the other subjects of the Russian Federation to use the powers granted.
