Proper lighting, comfortable seating, and regular short pauses during classes significantly affect a child's well-being and academic performance. On August 16, the Ministry of Education of Russia, together with Rospotrebnadzor, reminded parents of the basic rules for arranging a student's home workplace, which help reduce the strain on vision and spine, as well as maintain concentration.

Experts emphasize that prolonged sitting creates an increased burden on the student's body, impairs memory, reduces attention and overall performance. Therefore, the table and chair should be comfortable, well-lit and match the child's height.

It is better to place the desktop next to the window to maximize the use of natural light. For right—handers, it should fall on the left, for left-handers - on the right. Even in bright daylight, it is recommended to turn on a desk lamp. If the child is studying at the computer, the monitor should be placed directly in front of the eyes at a distance of 60-70 cm.

A proper fit requires an even position of the body with support on the back of a chair and feet fully planted on the floor. The distance from the eyes to the book or notebook should be approximately equal to the length of the forearm.

To avoid overwork, experts recommend taking short breaks every 20 minutes. During these minutes, it is useful to perform a light warm-up and eye exercises. Short pauses help to restore attention, reduce fatigue and increase the effectiveness of classes. In addition, furniture should be suitable for height, and regular changes of activity and physical activity additionally reduce the load on the spine, muscles and eyesight.

On August 15, the Ministry of Education announced that in the first two months of school, the workload for 1st grade students should not exceed 15 hours per week, and no more than three lessons per day can be conducted. According to the methodological recommendations of the department, September is aimed at adapting children to school. The organization of the schedule should be formed in the form of a smooth transition from a light workload with a small number of lessons to an increase in workload in the following months.
