Lukashenko called the desire to be on equal terms with the people his presidential credo

On August 15, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, at the opening ceremony of the Call of Polesie festival, told how this region predetermined his presidential credo.

"And that mowing in the 90s <...> in many ways predetermined my presidential credo - to speak openly, directly, face to face with the people and do everything for their benefit," the BelTA news agency quoted him as saying.

Lukashenko told how, on one of his first trips to the region as head of state, he began manually mowing the floodplain of the Pripyat River with local residents. After that, according to him, the Poleshuki (the indigenous population of Polesie) took him "for their own," forming in him an approach to the work of the president.

On August 14, Lukashenko called those who believe that he will transfer power to his children "complete fools." The Belarusian leader made the corresponding comment during his visit to the agricultural enterprise of the Zhitkovichi district.

On April 19, Lukashenko said that there are many "smart people" in Belarus who can lead the country. The future leader, as he stressed, will definitely be elected by the people.
