Vasily Generalov, the chief physician of the Moscow clinic PlanetaMed, was detained. This was announced on August 15 by a source of Izvestia.

The day before, representatives of the administration and staff of the center were brought in for questioning. A criminal case has been opened in the capital's investigative committee on fraud and causing serious harm to health by negligence.

According to the investigation, from December 2017 to April 2026, the defendants were looking for parents of children with autism spectrum disorders and other severe neurological diseases.

Using the desperate desire of families to help children, they misled them about the effectiveness of the techniques and convinced them to pay for expensive services and drugs that had no scientific basis and were not included in the clinical recommendations of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

"The accused laundered the funds received from fraud through illegal financial transactions using fake bank cards issued to third parties," the Telegram channel of the capital's Investigative Committee added.

Parents have been complaining about the clinic online for more than two years — after treatment, the children deteriorated, the quality of services did not match the cost, and the staff was negligent. In relation to the defendants, a preventive measure related to imprisonment was chosen. The investigation is ongoing, and other persons involved are being identified.

In Moscow on June 24, law enforcement officers detained seven participants in a fraudulent scheme to receive funds from the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund for allegedly providing dental services in private clinics. The damage amounted to more than 50 million rubles. Since 2021, attackers have been using citizens' personal data to issue account cards with fictitious information about assistance and provide them to the Federal Migration Service. The funds were transferred to controlled clinics and appropriated by accomplices. A case has been initiated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Six defendants were ordered not to leave, and one was placed under house arrest.
