Russia and Thailand have started discussing direct flights of Thai airlines
Russia and Thailand are considering the possibility of launching direct flights between Moscow and Thailand by Thai airlines. This was announced on August 14 by Alexey Chekunkov, co-chairman of the ninth meeting of the joint Russian-Thai commission on bilateral cooperation, Head of the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation.
"We are currently discussing the involvement of Thai airlines to establish passenger transportation between Moscow and Thailand," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The minister stressed the importance of restoring direct flights between the two countries and said that Russia expects to provide at least one more direct flight with Thailand by Thai airlines before the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission in the second half of 2027.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on August 14 that it was in Russia's interests to develop relations with Thailand in a variety of areas, including the economy and investment. The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that Thailand is Russia's oldest partner in Southeast Asia, with which responsible work is underway on foreign policy issues.
