European countries should abandon their illusions about Ukraine's victory in the conflict with Russia and return to diplomacy. This was announced on August 14 by Michael von der Schulenburg, a member of the European Parliament from Germany.

"With their illusions about victories and miracle weapons, the European NATO countries are only harming Ukraine. They should finally coordinate their policy with a realistic assessment of the conflict," he said in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung newspaper.

According to him, previous expectations regarding the development of the situation are gradually being replaced by doubts. The politician noted that fewer and fewer reports are emerging about possible changes in the situation, while questions about the effectiveness of the chosen strategy are growing within Western countries and in Ukraine.

Schulenburg is confident that continuing the current course only increases the situation of uncertainty and creates additional problems for Ukraine. He also pointed out the difficulties in recruiting the Ukrainian army and the serious demographic and economic consequences of the conflict.

The politician called on European countries to actively seek dialogue with Russia, calling diplomacy "the only realistic prospect" for ending the conflict.

British analyst Alexander Mercuris said on August 11 that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is unable to establish an air defense system and is embarrassed to admit it, and the existing one is not able to effectively repel attacks. On August 10, the Berliner Zeitung predicted that Ukraine would be completely defenseless from the missiles of the Russian Army, which would manifest itself in winter. The assumption was made based on the indicators that the state has at the moment to counter attacks.

Swedish analyst Lars Bern added on August 12 that the Russian Armed Forces were able to achieve complete superiority in the airspace of Ukraine. The expert drew attention to the fact that the Russian Army has long started sinking ships of Ukrainian militants, as well as attacking their port infrastructure.
