- Fraudsters have begun offering Russians marriage registration without waiting in line
Fraudsters began to take advantage of the increased demand for marriage registration in the summer and allegedly offer Russians to formalize the relationship in an expedited manner. This was announced on August 14 by Peter Shcherbachenko, associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
"Summer is the season of weddings and weddings, the excitement is growing, everyone wants to register a marriage promptly and choose a beautiful date. Scammers began to offer to register a marriage quickly and without waiting in line," the expert shared in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He explained that the scammers are demanding an advance payment for "services" that are supposedly necessary for an expedited registration procedure. Shcherbachenko noted that after receiving the money, fraudsters can give customers fictitious marriage certificates with forged seals and signatures.
The expert recommended that Russians contact only the state civil registration authorities and not use the offers of unknown intermediaries or questionable ads on the Internet.
On August 13, Valentina Shilina, head of the city's online project "Call Me Back" at the Moscow Department of Information Technology, reported that fraudsters collect information about potential victims from open sources and social networks, analyze their fears and build plausible scenarios of deception. The expert noted that all schemes have one thing in common: they always look like an urgent problem requiring immediate solution.
