Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi protested on August 13 in connection with Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Iturup Island.
"I strongly protest against President Putin's visit to the island of Iturup today. <...> This visit can be said to have only increased anti-Russian sentiments in Japan and made it even more difficult to restore relations in the medium and long term," Takaichi wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
