Insurers predicted an increase in average prices for auto parts
New reference books on the average cost of spare parts, materials and standard hours of work, which are used to calculate repairs under CTP, will enter into force on September 19. Average prices for spare parts are expected to rise and the average payout will increase by 7-8%, the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA) announced on August 13.
"For those brands for which the spare parts market is unstable (for example, due to difficulties with the delivery of spare parts), it is possible that the growth will be even greater due to the fact that now the average prices in the directory will be based on prices for higher—quality spare parts," said the head of the RSA Evgeny Ufimtsev.
He recalled that in July of the year, a new procedure approved by the Bank of Russia for the formation of directories of the average cost of spare parts came into force, which was used by the RSA in collecting information and processing primary market prices to prepare a new version of the directory.
To determine the average prices for spare parts, the "original" prices were used, which are at least 30% of the average median price of all "original" prices, while the prices of analogues of spare parts, if they are 70% cheaper than the "original", were not taken into account. In addition, the average cost of consumables was calculated at market prices without taking into account any discounts to retail prices for these materials.
A public review of the updated version of the directories is carried out until August 27.
The amount of fines for violations during daily driving without CTP when automatically checking the availability of a valid policy using video surveillance cameras may exceed the cost of the policy in three to four days. It is planned to launch a mechanism for automatically checking the availability of CTP policies using traffic cameras from October 1, 2026.
