Russians shared their emotions from watching the Perseid meteor shower

Russians who gathered in Crimea to see the Perseid meteor shower shared their emotions from observing the cosmic phenomenon in an interview with Izvestia on August 13.

Sergey Nazarov, a researcher at the Crimean Observatory, said that the meteor shower is a regular annual phenomenon, but this year there were "amazing atmospheric conditions" due to the solar eclipse.

"First of all, there is no street lighting, no moon and, of course, a perfectly clear sky. In this regard, the flow this year is great," he said.

No special equipment is required to observe the Perseid flow. Bright flashes of burning meteors are visible to the naked eye, said Oleg Zaikovsky, a correspondent for Izvestia.

"I'm very passionate about space. I believe that the future of our humanity lies in space. <...> This (the Perseid meteor shower — Ed.) cannot but delight and delight," said Denis Obolensky, a resident of Sevastopol.
