- In Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, control over the oxygen content in the water of the Irtysh river has been strengthened
In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, control over the condition of the Irtysh River has been strengthened. Specialists will monitor the dissolved oxygen content in the water.
According to the <url> news agency, measures are also being taken after a sharp decrease in oxygen levels. In the area of Gornopradinsk, the concentration was up to 1.5 mg/l at a rate of about 6 mg/l. In the Khanty-Mansiysk region, the amount of dissolved oxygen is 2.5-3.6 mg/l. Concentrations below 2 mg/l are considered dangerous for water resources.
Employees of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography examined the Irtysh River from the border with the Tyumen Region to its confluence with the Ob River. The water temperature in early August was up to 25 degrees, such indicators had not been recorded before. No cases of mass death of fish have been identified, however, isolated dead individuals have been found on the banks of the river.
The authorities of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug expect that the rains will lead to cooling of the water and an increase in the dissolved oxygen content.
