The expert gave advice on updating the jewelry collection after 40 years

With age, not only the wardrobe changes, but also the attitude towards jewelry. If you want to experiment with different styles and trends in your youth, then over time versatility, comfort and the ability to combine products with different looks come to the fore. Taisiya Iznova, SOKOLOV's category director, told Izvestia on August 14 how to review the jewelry collection and choose jewelry that will be relevant for many years.

"Jewelry is beginning to be bought not for one specific image or event, but as an element of one's own wardrobe, which remains relevant for more than one season," Iznova noted.

One of the main tasks is to combine accessories with each other. Over time, random purchases can accumulate in caskets: bright earrings for one outing, a ring for a specific outfit, or a pendant that is rarely worn. As a result, the number of products increases, but it becomes more difficult to assemble a harmonious set.

The expert advises to approach the jewelry collection in the same way as the basic wardrobe. Instead of a large number of ornaments at one time, it is more practical to choose products that are easy to combine with each other. The collection can be based on laconic earrings, chains of different lengths, universal rings and bracelets of simple shapes. Such jewelry is suitable for different situations — from a casual look to a business meeting or an evening out.

"At the same time, updating the collection does not mean that you need to get rid of old jewelry. Often the product is not outdated, but simply falls out of the usual combinations. Sometimes it's enough to replace the chain, change the length of the pendant, or add a new piece of jewelry to make it part of the wardrobe again," explained Iznova.

What is the reason and will this trend continue?

The expert also noted that today, fully finished jewelry sets in which all products are made in the same style are less relevant. A more practical approach is considered to be when different decorations can be combined with each other.

Another important criterion is the conformity of jewelry to a lifestyle. Over time, work habits, social circles, and everyday scenarios change, so it's better to choose products that look equally good with different styles of clothing, such as a classic jacket, basic T-shirt, or dress.

Iznova recommended that the jewelry box be regularly reviewed. To do this, it is enough to evaluate each piece of jewelry based on several questions: whether it has been worn over the past year, whether it is combined with at least three images, whether you would buy it today and whether it still evokes positive emotions.

If an ornament no longer fits the style, this does not always mean that it needs to be abandoned. Sometimes a product can be given a new lease of life by changing combinations, replacing parts, or using precious metal to create a new piece of jewelry. According to the expert, this approach helps not only to update the collection, but also to make the choice of jewelry more conscious, avoiding unnecessary impulsive purchases.
