Moldovan authorities refused Hutsul's request to stay in Kishinev prison

The Moldovan authorities refused to defend the head of the Gagauz Autonomy, Evgenia Gutsul, in her request to leave her to serve her sentence in prison No. 13 in Chisinau. This was announced on August 12 by the politician's lawyer, Sergei Moraru.

"There are grounds for Hutsul to remain in prison No. 13. We have submitted a corresponding petition so that I can participate in the investigative actions in another criminal case," Moraru told TASS.

According to the lawyer, after the refusal, the Hutsuls were sent to serve their time in a correctional institution in the village of Ruska. He suggested that this decision was made intentionally, since the conditions there, in his opinion, are worse than in the capital's prison.

Hutsul said on May 28 that the government was afraid of the truth and the support of the people, so it was acting on political orders. She called the separation from her children the most difficult ordeal and stressed that her freedom was taken away from her, but they could not take away her dignity, conscience and love for the people.

On May 28, the Chisinau Court of Appeal upheld Hutsul's sentence of seven years in prison. According to Bogdan Tsyrdea, a member of parliament from the opposition Party of Socialists, the politician is being held in prison No. 13 in Moldova, known for extremely difficult conditions of detention and a high incidence of diseases.
