Trump declared US control over the Strait of Hormuz

The United States has fully taken control of the Strait of Hormuz and is ready to strike Iran if Tehran attempts to change the situation in the region. This was announced on August 11 by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

"We have full control of the Strait of Hormuz. We control it, no one else <...> At some point they [Iran] can do something, and then they will be swept away," Trump said in an interview with reporters at the Andrews military base, as quoted by TASS.

On August 10, Reuters reported that the United States could lift the blockade on Iran's ports after reaching an agreement on unhindered navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. It was noted that all subsequent actions of the American side will be related to Iran's fulfillment of obligations.

Normalization in the region can only be temporary — the United States has its own way of looking at the situation.

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohammad Bagher Zulqadra said on August 9 that until the United States changes its behavior, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed. According to him, Iran demands that the United States stop threats and insults against the country, stop the war and aggression against Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen and Iraq, as well as lift the naval blockade and withdraw military forces from the area around Iran.
