Over 600 residents of the Belgorod region have died as a result of attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine since February 2022. This was announced on August 12 by the acting governor of the region, Alexander Shuvaev.

"Ukrainian and Western militants killed 622 Belgorod residents, including 27 children. 4,737 people were injured, 277 of them children," Shuvaev told TASS.

According to the head of the region, since the beginning of 2026, as of August 10, 191 civilians, including four children, have died as a result of attacks. Another 1,651 people were injured, including 70 minors.

On August 11, Shuvaev said that in Belgorod, after the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack last weekend, about 950 apartments in 70 apartment buildings, as well as 14 private houses, were damaged, and repairs were underway. The timing of work at the facilities will be controlled by First Deputy Ilya Ponomarev, together with the regional Ministry of Construction and the Belgorod City Hall, in order to avoid delays and overcharging by contractors, Shuvaev added.
