The Chinese authorities will take the necessary measures to protect themselves if the United States approves a new bill on anti-Russian sanctions, which involves duties for the purchase of energy resources from the Russian Federation. This was announced on August 11 by the official representative of the Chinese Embassy in Washington, Liu Chang.

"China strongly opposes unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and have not been approved by the UN Security Council, and will take the necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and citizens," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
