Trump pointed to the possibility of the EU transferring fighter jets purchased from the United States to Kiev.

Washington sells weapons to European countries, which independently decide on the further use of equipment, including the possible transfer of it to Ukraine. This was announced on August 10 by US President Donald Trump.

"We sell ammunition, we sell fighter jets to the European Union, and they do what they want, for example, they transfer them to Ukraine," Trump said in an interview with the YouTube channel of TV presenter Wayne Allyn Root.

The American leader did not specify whether it was about new supplies of aviation equipment with the possibility of subsequent transfer to Kiev or about weapons that had previously been sent to Ukraine.

Trump also noted that the United States now supplies military equipment to its allies only on a paid basis. According to him, European countries independently determine the future fate of the acquired weapons.

Ankara, which seeks to act as a peacemaker, will send decommissioned missiles to Kiev.

The Washington Post reported on August 5 that several European countries refuse to transfer interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, despite their availability. According to the newspaper, the shortage of ammunition for air defense systems led to the fact that during a massive strike on Kiev, the Ukrainian military could not intercept a single Russian ballistic missile.

On August 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that the West had reduced the supply of missiles for Patriot air defense systems in order to make Kiev more compliant. He noted that he did not know any other reasons for the reduction in supplies, except for the situation in the Middle East. The German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported that Zelensky's complaints look pathetic and are unlikely to change the situation.
