The priest spoke about the spiritual meaning of the Nut Savior

The Walnut Savior is associated with the completion of the harvest and completes the summer cycle of holidays dedicated to the Savior. The holiday is celebrated annually on August 29, when the church honors one of the most famous images of Christ in the Orthodox tradition — the Savior Not Made with Hands. This was announced by the dean of the Baltai district of the Saratov diocese, Priest Oleg Zhilyakov, in a conversation with Izvestia.

According to the clergyman, this image is one of the most revered for the Russian Orthodox. The tradition of his veneration dates back to Constantinople, from where Russia adopted the Christian faith.

"Spas is of particular importance in the context of the end of the summer period. All the holidays of the Savior are associated with the harvest, and the Walnut Savior symbolically completes this cycle," he said.

On August 14, the Dormition Fast begins — it will last two weeks and end on August 28.

The spiritual meaning of the holiday, according to Priest Oleg Zhilyakov, is primarily gratitude to God for earthly fruits and gifts received. A person not only asks for blessings and help, but also thanks for what he receives. This tradition, the clergyman noted, is reflected in liturgical texts, in particular in petitions for favorable weather and abundance of earthly fruits.

He added that the importance of harvest for humans in the past was much more significant than for modern society, since people's lives directly depended on the fruits obtained.
