The rules of prayer in the Nut Savior were explained to the believers

On August 29, Orthodox believers remember the Image of the Savior, not made with Hands, and his transfer to Constantinople. In folk tradition, this date is called the Walnut Savior. However, this name does not apply to the church, said Priest Ilya Savastyanov in an interview with Izvestia.

"The Orthodox calendar does not know such a holiday as the Nut Savior. This day commemorates the Miraculous image of the Savior and his transfer from Edessa to Constantinople," said the priest.

He recalled that the holiday is based on the legend of the ruler of Edessa, Abgar, who was healed by Jesus Christ. The savior could not go to the ruler personally, but he handed him a cloth cloth with which he wiped his face. The Face of Christ was miraculously imprinted on the fabric. After Abgar venerated the image, he received healing.

On August 14, the Dormition Fast begins — it will last two weeks and end on August 28.

"In memory of this event, the Divine Liturgy is celebrated in churches. After the service, prayer services may be held with prayers for the consecration of the new harvest — nuts, bread and other fruits," said Savastyanov.

The priest noted that there are no special strict requirements for prayer on this day. Believers can come to worship at the temple or pray at home in front of the icon.

According to him, the Uncreated image of the Savior remains in the center of attention, so you can read prayers addressed to the Lord and dedicated to the veneration of the holy image.
