The Russian Embassy in Germany reported on the growing interest of Russians in returning to the country.

In Germany, the number of Russians considering the possibility of returning to their homeland continues to increase. This was announced on August 10 by the press service of the Russian Embassy in Berlin.

"Despite the difficult geopolitical situation, interest in the state program not only continues unabated, but also continues to grow. For comparison, in 2024, the Russian Embassy in Berlin issued 164 certificates (a total of 378 relocated, including family members of the participants), in 2025 – 251 (a total of 482 people), and from January to July 2026 — already 226 (a total of 424 people),"RIA's press service comments. It is specified that since the beginning of 2026, the Russian diplomatic missions in Germany have issued 570 certificates as part of the voluntary resettlement assistance program. Also in the Russian Embassy said for living in Germany compatriots, including immigrants from the former Soviet Union, the most convenient way of returning to Russia remains involved in the state program of voluntary resettlement. Its participants are given the opportunity to apply for a residence permit and obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner.

It is noted that the relevance of the program is evidenced by the data of the Consulate General of Russia in Bonn. In 2025, 631 certificates were issued there, covering 1,517 people. In the first six months of 2026, 344 certificates for 823 people have already been issued, compared with 308 documents and 729 people for the same period last year.
