Yonhap reported on South Korea's unwillingness to transfer weapons to Kiev

The Republic of Korea maintains its position on the inadmissibility of supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine. This was reported by the Yonhap news agency, citing a representative of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea stated that the country carries out military supplies in accordance with domestic legislation. According to him, the country's laws prohibit the transfer of lethal weapons to States where armed conflict continues.

At the same time, the diplomat noted that Seoul continues to provide support to Ukraine in other areas, including energy, infrastructure, healthcare and education. The Republic of Korea is also ready to consider proposals related to the restoration of peace and reconstruction of Ukraine.

Yonhap notes that the position of the South Korean government indicates the continued cautious approach to Kiev's requests. The agency points out that arms supplies to Ukraine remain a difficult issue for Seoul.

Zelensky said on August 9 that Ukraine could not yet mass-produce ballistic missiles without the help of Western countries. According to him, Ukraine's capabilities in the production of its own missile weapons remain limited. To increase the volume, Kiev needs the support of foreign partners.
