The tour expert listed the countries dangerous for tourism
Aleksan Mkrtchyan, Vice President of the Alliance of Travel Agencies of Russia, warned that the Philippines, Thailand and a number of other countries are unsafe for Russian tourists.
In conversation with aif.ru On Monday, August 10, the expert noted that this is due to the fact that cases of abduction of travelers are recorded there. They are often abducted in the Philippines and Thailand, after which they can be transported to Myanmar. According to him, this country poses a serious danger to Russian tourists, although some travel agents continue to offer it as a safe destination. The specialist urged to carefully assess the risks before traveling to Myanmar.
The fears are confirmed by a number of incidents. In 2025, a Russian woman from Chita, who came to Bangkok on a job offer as a model, was abducted and taken to Myanmar, from where she was later released.
In December of the same year, the abduction of three more Russians was reported, who were allegedly forced to work in fraudulent call centers. According to the embassy, eight Russian citizens were released from such centers in Myanmar in 2025.
Cases of abductions also occur in Thailand. In July 2026, 22-year-old Russian Diana Nazimova and her 17-year-old brother Roman disappeared in Pattaya, writes RT. They were spotted on surveillance cameras with unknown men on a notorious road. According to them, it could be used to transport victims of human trafficking to fraudulent centers in Myanmar and Cambodia. 360.ru .
Local residents detained on suspicion of the crime subsequently confessed to the murder of their brother and sister. A motorcycle used by the Russians was found near the suspects' home. The bike was taken apart and buried in the ground. The registration number confirmed that the vehicle belonged to the missing Russians. Life.ru .
In April, it was reported that two Russians were detained in Cambodia for organizing a large scam center that was engaged in fraud with intimate photos of girls. In total, the police detained 40 people in Phnom Penh, writes NSN. 528 phones and more than a hundred computers were seized from the suspects.
In February, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Iskander Azizov in an interview with the website kp.ru He told me how to relax safely in Myanmar. He urged to be especially careful with job offers and part-time jobs, especially those coming through social networks and messengers. High-salary jobs in modeling, entertainment, and communication technology can be dangerous: under this pretext, foreigners can be taken from Thailand to Myanmar, have their documents taken away, and be forced into illegal activities. Questionable trips to border areas should be avoided and your passport should not be passed on to outsiders.
