Avtodor has restored about 3,000 km of roads and 70 bridges in new regions of Russia.

Russian builders not only implement large-scale projects, but also make the lives of millions of citizens more comfortable. Behind each result there is a huge amount of work, complex decisions and the work of thousands of specialists. Alexey Poltoranin, a correspondent for Izvestia, told about this on August 9.

The Sochi flyover will be the longest in the city and will have the longest tunnel in the country. The eight-kilometer-long Adler bypass is being actively built for residents and vacationers.

"The journey from the city center to the resorts of Krasnaya Polyana, to the airport, and the eastern districts of Adler will be significantly reduced," said Maxim Akhunov, Head of the Reconstruction and Construction Department of the Sochi branch of Avtodor Group.

The task of unloading traffic is faced by road workers on another transport artery in southern Russia — the M4 Don highway. On a 90-km section, the road is actually being created from scratch. The residents of the new territories felt the changes.

"Starting in 2022, almost 3,000 km of new roads have been built, about 70 bridges have been restored, and federal and regional networks have been brought to a standard state," said Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairman of the Board of Avtodor Group.

Medicine is also being updated. On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a multidisciplinary pediatric center has been built in Melitopol, Zaporizhia region. The facility will be able to receive up to 60 thousand small patients per year. Thanks to the builders, doctors' help is becoming more accessible in other regions. A new polyclinic has been built in Kaluga and its facilities have been expanded.

"A rehabilitation department has been opened this year. We have received a license to provide anesthesia supplies for endoscopic examinations," said Elena Druzhikina, Chief Physician of Kaluga City Hospital No. 5.

New kindergartens, schools, residential areas, boiler houses, embankments, city parks and memorials are the result of the painstaking work of Russian builders.

"A real breakthrough has been made in the recent history of the construction industry. Thousands of iconic objects have been erected. These are facilities for the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. The Crimean Bridge, the bridge to Russky Island, thousands of kilometers of expressways: the M12 Vostok highway as part of the Rossiya highway, the Tavrida highway, the Central Ring Road and much more," said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

And all this in an environment where the system had to be radically rebuilt due to sanctions pressure. Specialists changed logistics, increased the production of domestic building materials and equipment, and at the same time did not lose in quality. This balance was maintained during the construction of the new building of the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

"The art of project management has come to the fore. It was necessary to show appropriate flexibility. Some suppliers were leaving, it was necessary to look for a replacement, and the replacement was not the worst. After all, we are building the country's main museum," said Sergey Fateev, head of the project for the construction of the Tretyakov Gallery building, general contractor.

The so—called Pushkin Quarter, a complex of buildings of the State Museum of Fine Arts, is currently being restored in the capital. Thanks to the efforts of builders, engineers, and designers across the country, an important area has been brought to a new level.

The construction industry is one of the key sectors in the Russian economy. Together with related areas, it accounts for more than 20% of gross domestic product (GDP). And even despite all the difficulties faced by construction, this sector is showing growth. In six years, the volume of work has increased by a third.

There was no such pace of housing construction in Russia even in Soviet times: last year it was 150 million square meters. In fact, entire cities are being built. A large-scale resettlement program from emergency homes is in effect throughout the country.

"This program was launched in 2008 on the direct instructions of the President of our country, and since its implementation, more than 2 million people have already been resettled from emergency housing," said Vasily Kupyzin, Director General of the Territorial Development Fund.

And behind these figures are comfortable housing and the joyful faces of the people for whom the builders are trying.

At the meeting with Khusnullin, Putin stressed the reliability of the family mortgage and noted the enormous amount of investment in the construction industry.

Moscow and the Chelyabinsk Region became the leaders of the rating of Russian regions in terms of road quality, while the Arkhangelsk and Volgograd regions were at the end of the list. According to experts on August 3, 55.2% of regional and local roads in the country as a whole met regulatory requirements by the end of 2025, which is 0.4 percentage points more than a year earlier. At the same time, the share of such roads in 43 regions of the Russian Federation is lower than the national average.
