Zelensky and the team arrived in Serbia for the first time to meet with Vucic

On August 7, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky paid his first official visit to Serbia, where he plans to take part in negotiations.

"I came to Serbia with my team. Important negotiations are scheduled for today and tomorrow," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The Ukrainian leader indicated that during the trip he wants to meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Juro Makut. The agenda includes discussions on interstate economic relations and security.

The day before, Vucic's press service confirmed that he would meet with Zelensky in Belgrade on August 8. On August 7, the head of the New Democratic Party of Serbia, Milos Jovanovic, did not rule out that the visit of the Ukrainian leader to Serbia could spoil Belgrade's relations with Moscow. He said the trip would be part of a broader geopolitical context in which the West seeks to show that both countries are on an irreversible western course.
