Malek Dudakov, an American political scientist, named a possible reason for the US State Department's refusal to appoint Rustem Umerov as the ambassador of Ukraine.

"I think this could be due to the fact that Rustem Umerov did not perform in the best way during the negotiation process. He refused to make concessions," the expert said in an interview with aif.ru on Friday, August 7th.

The political scientist also suggested that Umerov's appointment could have been prevented by his having American citizenship. According to the expert, in such a situation, the question arises about a possible conflict of interests if a person represents Ukraine in the United States.

Dudakov expressed the opinion that Umerov himself expected to get a position that would allow him to distance himself from what was happening in Kiev, including strikes and corruption scandals, however, according to the political scientist, he failed to realize this scenario.
