The Russian Armed Forces upheld the verdict of Kulibaba in the case of double murder

The Supreme Court of Russia has upheld the verdict of criminal mastermind Vladimir Kulibaba in the case of a 30-year-old double murder. This was reported on August 6 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The judicial board rejected the defense's complaint, which asked for the verdict to be overturned.

On March 17, the St. Petersburg City Court sentenced Kulibaba to 10 years in a general regime penal colony in a double murder case.

The court convicted Vladimir Kulibaba, although his alleged accomplices were fully acquitted.

On March 11, the court issued a decision to terminate the criminal prosecution against Kulibaba, as well as his accomplices Vladimir Karpinsky and Anatoly Motyl. The criminal case against Kulibaba, Karpinsky and Motyl was terminated due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

The criminal boss was detained in December 2021. He was charged with the murder of Igor Savin, a member of the Mogilev organized crime group, and Kirill Ugolnikov, a police officer, the attempted murder of Dmitry Skvortsov, an ex-assistant to the Deputy Minister of the Interior, and participation in and leadership of a criminal community.

Prior to that, Kulibaba was arrested in November 2010 on charges of murdering Vadim Chechel, director of the Cascade security company, in 2008. Then the authority managed to escape punishment: in 2013, the jury found him not guilty.
