Yampolskaya recalled Putin's words about the Russian language in Ukraine

The situation with restrictions on the Russian language in Ukraine confirms the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Ukrainians are a Russian-speaking nation. This was announced on August 6 by Elena Yampolskaya, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

Commenting on the questions about the laws restricting the use of the Russian language in some countries, Yampolskaya recalled this position of the head of state.

"Everything that is happening in Ukraine also clearly confirms the thesis of the head of our state that Ukraine is a Russian—speaking country," Yampolska told reporters.

According to the presidential adviser, the Ukrainian authorities continue their policy of restricting the Russian language and related historical memory. She also spoke about similar trends in the Baltic States, Moldova and Poland.

As examples, Yampolskaya cited the initiative to rename the Alexander Pushkin school in Odessa, restrictions on the use of the Russian language by children, the conflict in Truskavets, Lviv region, due to listening to Russian-language songs, as well as the dismissal of an oncologist in Rivne, who, according to her, lost her job due to insufficient proficiency in the state language.

On June 2, Putin called for meaningful and purposeful work to support the Russian language, stressing that "nothing builds by itself." According to him, priorities in the development of the Russian language should be determined by specialists who have devoted their entire lives to studying it. The state is obliged to support the proposed initiatives in this area, he stressed.
