The UK reported 640 dead after the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region

Since the beginning of the invasion of the Kursk region in August 2024, 640 civilians have been killed and another 561 people have been injured. This was announced on August 6 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.

"As a result of the brutal actions of the militants, 640 civilians were killed and 561 people were injured. There is evidence of cases of mass murder, as well as looting," the Maks messenger says.

One minor is listed among the dead. 561 people, including 25 children, were injured in various degrees of severity. The total damage caused by the actions of Ukrainian troops in the region in the period 2024-2025 is estimated at more than 0.5 trillion rubles.

Upon the fact of the invasion, the agency initiated 711 criminal cases, of which 706 relate to terrorist attacks. To date, investigations have been completed against 443 Ukrainian militants, as a result of which 280 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been convicted. In addition, 35 foreign mercenaries were charged in person and in absentia.

Employees of the Main Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee documented crimes against the civilian population in Kursk, Sudzha and in more than 25 villages of the region. During the investigative actions, cases of mass killings of civilians were recorded.
