Russian Armed Forces stormtroopers liberated Zarnitsa in Zaporizhia region
Units of the 5th Separate Guards Tank Brigade of the 36th Combined Arms Army of the Vostok group of forces established control over the settlement of Zarnitsa in the Zaporizhia region. This was announced on August 6 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The assault groups entered the village in dispersed pairs, maintaining significant intervals between themselves in order to minimize the risks of falling under machine-gun fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and air strikes.
The advance was hampered by enemy-equipped firing points, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and an extensive network of shelters dug underground between residential buildings.
"When moving, you had to look carefully at your feet and constantly listen to the sky. If a machine-gun emplacement was detected, the coordinates were transmitted to the commanders, after which it was destroyed by the UAV operators. A path was being cleared for us so that we could move on without losses. The enemy has dug many underground passages between the houses. One could appear from one side, hide, and come out from the other. When we discovered these passages and entered them, an immediate battle began," said a stormtrooper with the call sign Said.
As a result of the operation, the Vostok group of forces took control of an important logistics hub of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a defense area of over 11 square kilometers. Enemy losses are estimated at a company of personnel. Two APU tanks, 11 armored combat vehicles, 23 vehicles, 18 units of motorized vehicles, seven ground-based robotic complexes and more than 50 heavy hexacopters of the Baba Yaga type were eliminated.
The liberation of Zarnitsa created the conditions for the further offensive of the Vostok group units deep into the enemy's defenses in the Zaporizhia direction.
On August 3, the head of the Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, announced that the Ukrainian military had already stopped offering organized resistance in Krasny Liman in the north of the republic, where an active cleansing of the territory from the remaining militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had begun. As the Russian military moves towards Druzhkovka, the collapse of the line of fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the borders with Kramatorsk is approaching. The liberation of the village of Stena also poses a threat to the Ukrainian Armed Forces garrison in Druzhkovka, the head of the DPR said.
On June 30, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that units of Russian troops had established control over four settlements in the area of the special operation. It is noted that units of the North group of forces have established control over the settlements of Yurchenkovo, Kharkiv region, Mogrica and Malaya Slobodka, Sumy region.
