On August 5, Spartak Moscow defeated Orenburg 5-1 in the first round of the group stage of the Russian Cup.

Striker Manfred Ugalde scored a double for the Red and White. Pablo Solari, Nail Umyakov and Pavel Polekh also scored. Renat Golybin scored the only goal for the visitors.
