There have been 324 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 324 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 20 people were killed and 378 injured. 17 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on August 5 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 65 accidents involving pedestrians, three people were killed, and 64 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 25 child pedestrians, 17 of them were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 21 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 44 outside their area of operation.
There were also 17 bus accidents in which there were no fatalities, but 18 road users, including three children, needed medical attention. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
54 accidents involving minors were registered, 58 young road users were injured, including 14 passengers and six motor transport drivers. One child, a cyclist, was killed.
So, in Nizhny Novgorod, a 19-year-old female passenger car driver ran over a nine-year-old schoolboy who rode a bicycle out of the courtyard and began to cross the roadway in front of a passing car. The third grader died. The motorist did not have time to react to his actions, because at that moment she was distracted from driving for a short time and missed the appearance of a young cyclist on the road. She received her driver's license in the second half of December last year.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged inexperienced motorists, whose driving experience does not exceed two years, to strictly observe traffic regulations and be more attentive on the roads of settlements and cities: not to be distracted while driving by talking on a cellular connection or with passengers in the cabin, as well as other factors that interfere with the driver's concentration on driving.
The behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, so drivers should always be extremely collected when driving through courtyards and maneuvering on them, entering and exiting the parking space of large shopping malls adjacent to the roadway, pedestrian exits from the territories of children's clinics and playgrounds, and park recreation areas. In front of such objects, you should slow down to the minimum speed in order to give yourself time to react adequately to a possible sudden change in the traffic situation at any moment.
In addition, during the summer, parents and older relatives were advised to strictly control the free time of children of preschool and primary school age, if possible, always accompanying them on walks and correcting behavior in public places.
"Have an explanatory conversation with them about the rules of safe cycling and means of individual mobility, paying special attention to the fact that access to public roads for cyclists and drivers is allowed only when they reach the age of 14, and when crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing, they must dismount and drive their vehicle next to by myself. Regularly tell them about the rules of the road, the dangers of entering the roadway and the need to follow the rules of safe behavior. Remember that the lack of parental control over the behavior and leisure of children during the long summer holidays can lead to injuries or even death of young road users," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Earlier, information began to spread in the media and social networks that allegedly from August 1, car inspectors would begin checking drivers for paper forms of the European protocol. These reports are not true, the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate said.
