Mobile groups are being formed in Moscow to protect the city from drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Moscow authorities are forming mobile firing groups and helping the air defense forces repel drone attacks. This was announced on August 5 by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in an interview with TASS CEO Andrei Kondrashov.

"In recent months, the number of drones that are launched towards Moscow has increased many times, and in general, two thirds of all the attacks that are carried out almost daily on the territory of Russia are flying towards Moscow. On behalf of the president, we are actively and closely cooperating with the Ministry of Defense and the air defense forces to ensure the security of the capital," Sobyanin said.

He noted that the city, together with the military, equips air defense combat positions, deploys forces and assets, and produces drone interceptors. Mobile firing groups and units for object protection are also being formed. Sobyanin stressed that the main responsibility lies with the military, but regions and enterprises of particular importance should help the fighters.

The mayor added that Moscow collects information from civilian and military radars, the 112 system, citizen messages and video surveillance, processes data using digital technologies and shares it with regions and enterprises around the clock. The capital also shares its experience in building comprehensive protection plans against drones and helps with interception means. Sobyanin stressed that drone protection is a joint task, and the regions should work as a single team.

On August 4, residents of Chekhov in the Moscow region were urged to remind children of the rules of behavior when threatened by a UAV attack. Parents were advised to stay in touch with their children and explain to them in advance how to act in case of danger. The main recommendations are published in information cards for residents of the city.
