Sobyanin called Moscow a locomotive for the development of Russia's regions
Moscow is the locomotive of the development of Russia's regions. This was announced on August 5 by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in an interview with TASS CEO Andrei Kondrashov.
"Absolutely. The larger the economy, the more the city's economy will have an impact on the economies of other regions. Millions of jobs have been created in other regions in cooperation with industry, construction and economic development in Moscow. Every two rubles of investment in the city's economy, a ruble is immediately invested in the development of regional enterprises," Sobyanin said.
He noted that Moscow's industrial enterprises, including the Moskvich plant, work in cooperation with dozens and hundreds of enterprises in other regions that supply components. Construction, catering, and food products also interact with the regions. About 2 million jobs in Moscow are occupied by visitors from the Moscow region and neighboring regions. Sobyanin added that the surrounding regions — Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, and Ryazan regions — send up to two-thirds of their goods shipments to Moscow, which is a growth driver for them.
The mayor stressed that if the capital had not developed, other regions would not have developed in such a dynamic. All million-plus cities are the centers of their macro-regions and the locomotives of growth. Moscow and the Moscow region are developing as a single agglomeration, plans are synchronized with the government of the Moscow region. The metropolitan authorities also work closely with the federal ministries on national projects and the tasks of the president.
At a meeting with deputies of the State Duma of the VIII convocation on July 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian economy holds the fourth place in the world and the first in Europe in terms of purchasing power parity. The President noted that Russia is also ahead of the European Union in terms of economic growth. At the same time, he stressed that the country faces certain risks, including a possible acceleration of inflation.
