During a conversation with the head of the White House, journalists suggested that if an agreement was reached between Washington and Tehran, the Strait of Hormuz could be opened to traffic as early as August 5.

"We are progressing very well [in negotiations with Iran]. We will know [about the results] within 48 hours. This is (the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. It could happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," he said before flying out of Los Angeles.

The American leader added that the United States and Iran had a "very good" day of talks, during which "significant progress" was achieved.
