The operator of the Katana FPV drone destroyed about 40 armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The operator of an FPV attack drone with the call sign Katana, who performs tasks as part of the 76th Guards Airborne Division in the Dobropolsky area of the special military operation, took part in the liberation of the village of Shevchenko in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). On August 5, the Russian Defense Ministry noted the heroism shown by the servicemen.

Operating in small assault groups, Katana's paratrooper has mastered modern combat tactics to perfection, the press service of the department emphasized. The soldier actively uses shock FPV drones and successfully hits various targets, causing serious damage to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

Katana said that he learned how to fly drones pretty quickly.

"If you have felt it [the drone], if you understand that it belongs to you, then it will be easy for you. Good experienced pilots are immediately visible — they have all their actions honed to muscle memory," said the soldier.

It is noted that during his military operation Katana personally destroyed 10 enemy tanks, about 40 armored vehicles, including infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, about 40 artillery pieces and more than 300 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Katana showed personal courage and heroism during the fighting, and also made a significant contribution to the fulfillment of the goals of his military, for which he was presented with a high state award.

The President also expressed gratitude to the representatives of the labor professions.

Viktor Sofronov, a resident of Yakutia, a member of the SVO, was awarded the country's highest state award — the title of Hero of the Russian Federation, the head of the republic Aisen Nikolaev reported a day earlier. It was emphasized that Sofronov's feat is a vivid example of selfless devotion to the Motherland and a role model among military personnel.
