The national team consisted of Ekaterina Kosova, Elizaveta Smirnova, Svetlana Pavlova, Olga Tyutyunik, Kira Cherezova, Valentina Gerasimova, Elena Shabanova, Alexandra Schmidt. The Russian athletes scored 303.2467 points for their performance. The second place was taken by the Spanish national team (296.4299), the third by the Italian team (284.6725).
The gold medal was Russia's second in this championship. The day before, the synchronized swimming team won the highest award in the free skate in the team.
Olympic champion and coach of the Russian national team Marina Golyadkina said that Russian athletes were able to prepare a complex team in a short time, which helped the team to win medals.
