A stowaway got two years for assaulting a ticket collector in Moscow

The Nagatinsky District Court of Moscow sentenced to two years in prison a passenger who attacked a ground transport controller. This was reported in the press service of the Moscow transport complex.

The controller of the State Institution "Transportation Organizer" identified a passenger without a ticket in the bus cabin. The woman punched him in the head several times and tried to escape. The court found the passenger guilty under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — the use of violence against a government official.

The controllers of the Transportation Organizer are authorized to demand identity documents and issue fines to stowaways. We urge passengers to be polite and pay for their trips strictly at the entrance," said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow and head of the Department of Transport. He recalled that any illegal actions against the controllers of the Organizer of transportation entail irreversible punishment, including imprisonment for up to 10 years. Liksutov stressed that not a single case of attacks on workers will be ignored.

The Moscow Transport Complex recalled that the controllers of the "Transportation Organizer" are officials. They check passengers' travel documents and papers confirming the privilege, draw up protocols and make decisions when administrative violations are detected.

If a passenger refuses to show his documents or interferes with the work of the controller, he has the right to involve police officers. The Moscow Investigative Committee conducts an investigation into each such incident. If there are signs of a crime, the agency decides to initiate a criminal case, the press service noted.
