Doctor Baranova explained the cause of Pugacheva's fractures
Singer Alla Pugacheva could have suffered leg and hip fractures due to the effects of taking statins. This opinion was expressed on August 4 by doctor and blogger Irina Baranova.
According to the expert, drugs of this group can contribute to the loss of muscle mass, which is especially dangerous for the elderly. Baranova attributed the artist's possible injuries to the development of sarcopenia, a decrease in muscle strength and mass.
"Why did she get these fractures anyway? Pugacheva gives very interesting information in an interview where she says that the doctor forbade her to take statins, but she continued to drink. Actually, that's the secret — it's sarcopenia," The Voice magazine quotes the doctor as saying.
She noted that, in her opinion, the actress had previously been warned about the possible destruction of muscle tissue when taking medications. Baranova emphasized that to maintain health in old age, not only strong bones are important, but also sufficient muscle mass, which helps maintain stability and reduces the risk of injury.
Pugacheva said on July 26 that she had spent four months in bed due to a broken leg and now moves with a cane, and also suffers from panic attacks after surgery. According to her, because of her poor condition, she had panic attacks.
