- The Chinese army has demonstrated its nuclear potential in a new video. The main thing
China showed a video with a Xian H-6N bomber and a JL-1 missile capable of carrying a nuclear charge. Russia and the CSTO also recalled the nuclear doctrine. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
Demonstration of Chinese weapons
For the first time, the Chinese Armed Forces have released footage demonstrating the capabilities of an aerial nuclear strike. The Chinese Media Corporation (CMG) video shows a simulated attack scenario on an enemy fleet. The main element of the video was the Xian H-6N strategic bomber, which was accompanied by low-profile J-20 fighters.
The China Daily noted that there was presumably a JL-1 ballistic missile under the bomber's fuselage. This system is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, and its public display was the first time that the People's Liberation Army of China openly demonstrated such capabilities.
The JL-1 rocket was first officially unveiled in September 2025 during a military parade in Beijing. At that time, it was demonstrated in a number of other strategic systems, such as the DF-31BJ, DF-61 and DF-5C intercontinental ballistic missiles. The Chinese military did not disclose the exact parameters of the exercises and the time of the current operation.
The nuclear doctrine of Russia and the CSTO
Against the background of the activity of other states, Russia's permanent representative to the CSTO, Viktor Vasiliev, recalled the provisions of the defense doctrine of the Russian Federation. He stressed that the organization's strategic documents and Russian legislation allow the use of nuclear weapons to protect allies in the event of an attack.
"The documents adopted to develop this Strategy, as well as the military doctrine of the Russian Federation, suggest the possibility of using nuclear weapons, including to protect allies in the event of an attack," Viktor Vasiliev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The diplomat explained that modern security challenges include the growing number of states with nuclear potential. This is reflected in the Collective Security Strategy of the CSTO. Vasiliev also drew attention to the risks of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery in the current geopolitical conditions.
Expansion of NATO's nuclear programs
Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, expressed concern about the buildup of the nuclear arsenals of Britain and France. According to him, European countries have begun to create their own deterrence mechanisms, ceasing to fully rely on American protection. Gatilov pointed to Franco-German exercises with fighters capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
"The Europeans, having questioned the reliability of the American nuclear umbrella, are now working to create their own deterrence mechanisms," he said.
At the same time, NATO is discussing the possibility of deploying additional US nuclear warheads in Europe. The Presidents of Latvia and Lithuania have declared their readiness to accept such weapons. Edgar Rinkevich and Gitanas Nauseda stressed that such steps are possible within the framework of a policy of collective deterrence. Gitanas Nauseda even proposed to amend the Lithuanian Constitution in order to eliminate the ban on the presence of nuclear weapons on the territory of the country.
