- Fighters of the Center group of forces told about the interception of UAVs in the area of their
On August 4, fighters of the anti-aircraft missile unit of the Center group of forces, in an interview with Dmitry Astrakhan, a correspondent of Izvestia, spoke about the work on intercepting enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the zone of a special military operation (SVO).
"The work is actually very interesting. Our task is to intercept enemy UAVs: both reconnaissance UAVs and attack UAVs. We fly into a given square, that is, we know the approximate location, and <...> when detected, we destroy the target," said the serviceman.
Upon first detection, the officers on duty inform about the enemy drone with a special gesture, after which the drone begins to prepare for interception. Next, the UAV operator tracks and catches up with the enemy drone, and when it catches up, it detonates it with an attached explosive device.
According to the military, 10 such sorties can occur per day, and sometimes noticeably more. At the same time, the main activity of Ukrainian militants begins at night, when there are the most enemy attack drones.
On July 30, a fighter of the Pitersky battalion with the call sign Kaplodiy reported that mobile surveillance posts and firing groups of Akhmat special forces drone hunters, together with units of the North group of forces, were destroying most of the enemy's drones. On average, eight or nine of the 12 flying drones manage to shoot down. Those devices that were not eliminated at the first stage are destroyed at the next line of defense.
