Putin signed a law extending contracts with employees over the age of 70 in Donbas.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has allowed the renewal of contracts with municipal employees over the age of 70 in Donbas and Novorossiya. The relevant document was published on August 4 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The permit will be valid until January 1, 2028, according to the law signed by the head of state.

"By January 1, 2028, by the decision of the employer's representative and with the consent of a municipal employee who has reached the age of 70, the term of his position in municipal service related to the exercise of powers in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic may be repeatedly extended," the text says.

It clarifies that the term of office can only be extended for one year at a time.

The President announced the creation of a security zone on the border with Ukraine and urged not to "overdo it" when checking the work of local authorities.

According to the statistics of the Social Fund dated May 20, it became known that the maximum average pension amount of federal government civil servants in the regions of the Russian Federation in April 2026 exceeded 66 thousand rubles. The highest average pension for civil servants in April was recorded in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug — an average of 66,533 rubles.
