In South Korea, eight students were detained for entering a US air base.

South Korean police have detained eight student activists for attempting to enter an Air Force base USA "Osan" in the city of Pyeongtaek. This was reported on August 4 by the Yonhap news agency, citing law enforcement agencies.

According to police, among the detainees are four boys and four girls, members of the National Student Progressive Union. They are being investigated on suspicion of violating the law on the protection of military bases and military installations.

The incident occurred on August 4 at about 10:15 a.m. local time (04:15 a.m. Moscow time). Six students entered the base through the main gate and began shouting slogans demanding the withdrawal of American troops from South Korea. Two more activists remained at the entrance.

The US military detained the students and handed them over to the South Korean side. The police clarified that activists regularly speak out against the US military presence in the country and demand the closure of American bases. The US military has not yet provided law enforcement with additional information on the incident.
