In the prequel series "The ZIG ZAG GANG", also filmed by REN TV and Star Media Vision, starring Igor Petrenko, Pavel Trubiner, Ekaterina Vilkova and Dmitry Kulichkov were joined by Sergey Zharkov, Evgeny Miller, Sergey Ivanyuk and others. The first stage of the filming of the series "The ZIG ZAG GANG". THE BEGINNING" was held in Moscow and the Moscow region — on location and in pavilions. Then the film crew moved to St. Petersburg. Here, the creators of the series had to cope with serious challenges: heavy rains and scorching sun, night shifts at the locomotive depot and the closure of the busiest tourist spots in the city. Filming took place on the Palace Square, near the Kazan Cathedral, on the spit of Vasilyevsky Island and on the picturesque embankments, as well as on the territory of the historical Vitebsk railway station.

June 1941. Tikhon Lvov, an employee of the UGRO, detains the leader of the raiders who committed the brutal murder of cash collectors, unaware that a German saboteur, thrown into Leningrad with a special mission, is hiding under the guise of a mugger Shapkin. With the help of seasoned criminals Fyodor Kirillov and Vitaly Kosharny, Shapkin makes a daring escape from jail. But the robbery of cash collectors is the result of a mistake by saboteurs, their true goal is secret documents that the courier of the Red Army General Staff delivered to Leningrad... Since the beginning of the war, criminals have been teaming up with the Nazis and are ready to carry out their most inhumane orders for profit. Now, Lvov and his associates face a deadly task: to stop a criminal gang that will soon turn into the sinister ZIG ZAG gang. The battle for the city and for the Motherland begins.

"In the first season of the project, viewers saw the story of the gang's rise and defeat against the backdrop of famine and the siege of Leningrad. In the new season, we turn to the backstory and unfold the characters of the characters. The motives that motivated our main character Tikhon Lvov in the first season will become clear. The main villain Kirillov will also have a personal story. The viewer will see that his motivation is not limited to crime – there is personal revenge in it. A new hero will appear, acting under the conspiratorial surname Shapkin. He's negative, but he has his own truth and his own tragedy," said Vitaly Vorobyov, director of photography.

"For Lviv, this season is a story about dedication, about how a person tries to keep his balance when everything is falling apart. He's on the trail of criminals. At first it seems to him that this is just a gang of criminals, but soon it turns out that they are saboteurs in front of him. The search begins, the pursuit begins – and at that very moment the war begins. Lviv finds itself in a situation where it is impossible to choose one road. On the one hand, there is a family that needs to be saved. On the other hand, there is an investigation in which Lvov plays a key role. This is how he rushes between personal and duty, trying to stay true to himself and his principles in extreme circumstances," said Igor Petrenko, who plays the role of Tikhon Lvov's UGRO employee.
