The State Duma recalled the main rules of protection against fraud

Russians should not share passwords from personal accounts, enter into a dialogue with people who introduce themselves by phone as officials, or trust messages with links or requests for money transfers. This was announced on August 4 by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

"Once again, I want to ask you: do not share passwords from your personal accounts with anyone; do not communicate with someone who introduces himself as an official on the phone; do not trust messages that contain links or requests for money transfers," Volodin wrote on the Maks messenger.

He also recommended that you always double-check the information, which will help you avoid trouble. The Chairman of the State Duma noted that since 2021, the parliament has adopted 19 federal laws on combating fraud, including the Anti-Fraud 1.0 and Anti-Fraud 2.0 sets of measures adopted over the past year and a half. This is due to the development of technologies and the growth of their use by intruders.

According to him, the adopted norms are already yielding results. The number of crimes involving social networks and messengers decreased by 58% in the first half of 2026. We are talking about attempts to get a code from SMS messages to access accounts, create fake profiles, send requests for loans and malicious links. Volodin added that raising awareness of citizens about the actions of fraudsters also helps to reduce crime.
