The Pacific Fleet has begun deployment in the Seas of Japan and Okhotsk.
The forces of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) have begun moving to designated areas of the waters of the Seas of Japan and Okhotsk, as well as the northwestern Pacific Ocean, as part of an operational exercise that started on August 4. Ship-based minesweeping groups, search and attack formations, missile and boat attack groups, as well as a naval strike group led by the Guards Order of Nakhimov missile cruiser Varyag joined the task force, the press service of the Pacific Fleet reported.
In parallel with the ships' departure, the crews of the coastal missile systems "Bal" and "Bastion" of the coastal fleet troops began marching to the firing areas to occupy the launch positions. The maneuvers will last several weeks and will become the main event of operational and combat training of the Pacific Fleet in 2026 — the exercise will be held in a bilateral format under the leadership of Fleet Commander Admiral Viktor Liin.
In total, about 60 surface ships, submarines and support vessels, about 30 aircraft, helicopters and unmanned naval aviation complexes of the Pacific Fleet, as well as over 13 thousand military personnel will be involved in the maneuvers. The main focus of the exercise will be on developing the integrated use of high-precision weapons and modern weapons and military equipment.
The main tasks of the maneuvers will be to check the readiness of the leadership of associations and formations to manage groups of forces in their areas of responsibility, as well as to work out non-standard operational tasks. The exercise will be conducted in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies and federal executive authorities of the Russian Federation to ensure the defense of the sea borders, the island zone and the coastal territory of the Russian Far East.
On July 30, ships of the Russian Navy and the Indonesian Navy completed the naval stage of the joint Orruda-2026 exercises in the Sea of Japan. During the task development, the crews of the ships conducted maneuvering and communication training using various types of signaling. The Russian corvette "Perfect" participated in the exercise, and the frigate "Gusti Ngurah Rai" participated on the Indonesian side.
