Nutritionist Natalia Shipareva told us. What is useful for a pear? In conversation with aif.ru On Monday, August 3, she noted that the pear can compete with popular superfoods in its beneficial properties.

According to her, the fruit is rich in fiber, pectins, flavonoids, vitamins and trace elements. Fiber improves intestinal function and helps prevent constipation, pectin helps eliminate excess cholesterol, and the sorbitol contained in pears supports liver function, stimulates bile outflow and has a mild laxative effect.

The specialist noted that the pear also contains copper, silicon, cobalt, potassium, folic acid and a small amount of iodine. In addition, it contains arbutin, a natural antiseptic that can inhibit the growth of bacteria in the urinary tract.

At the same time, the expert warned that eating pears on an empty stomach is not recommended, since fiber and organic acids can irritate the gastric mucosa. In case of gastritis with high acidity, peptic ulcer and pancreatitis in the acute stage, it is better to give up raw pears. People with irritable bowel syndrome, accompanied by diarrhea, should also be careful, whereas with a tendency to constipation, fruit, on the contrary, can be useful.

Shipareva added that pears should not be combined with meat, milk and legumes, as this can cause fermentation, bloating and gas formation. She did not recommend astringent varieties with a high content of tannins to people prone to thrombosis. Ripe, fragrant fruits should be chosen without damage. Hard pears can be left at room temperature for two to three days to ripen. The fruit brings maximum benefits when consumed with the peel, while the optimal rate is one or two pears per day. The expert advised those to whom raw fruits are contraindicated to eat them baked, and to use vegetable milk rather than cow's milk for smoothies.

At the end of July, therapist Dmitry Demidik said that proper washing of vegetables, fruits and berries helps to reduce the risk of intestinal infections and remove residues of pollutants and chemicals. According to him, any fruits should be washed immediately before use. Most vegetables and fruits should be thoroughly rinsed under running water for one to two minutes, the website writes. kp.ru .
