The agronomist gave advice on watering plants
Mikhail Vorobyov, an agronomist and biologist, said on Monday, August 3, that proper watering of plants in summer is the main problem faced by many summer residents.
In an interview with Radio 1, the expert explained that if plants are regularly watered with water from a hose, pond or river, there are no special problems — the soil receives enough moisture, and crops grow and develop normally. However, with rare watering with cold artesian water with a temperature of about +7...+10 degrees can harm plants. According to him, it is better to spray such water only.
The specialist noted that cold water should not be allowed to reach the roots. In this case, the plants switch to the "winter mode", which slows down their growth, they do not have time to replenish moisture evaporating through the leaves, and begin to wither. In addition, heat—loving crops such as cucumbers, pumpkins, zucchini, tomatoes and eggplants can rot their roots from cold water, and watering will only worsen the situation.
Vorobyov added that artesian water should be heated in the sun before watering.
Also on August 3, Vorobyov said that mulching is an effective means of preventing late blight. You can use the simplest material — mown lawn grass or ordinary grass from the site. Pathogenic fungi, which need moisture, do not settle on the dry upper layer. 360.ru .
At the end of June, agronomist Denis Terentyev told how to reduce the amount of work at the cottage and turn the site into a place for recreation, rather than endless work. In particular, mulching helps to reduce the amount of weeding and watering.
